Misty, snow on the ground

Most lake have extensive ice on them, but there is some clear water on the Far, Village & Main Lakes

So far this year, Merlin & Peregrine have been seen regularly

Mediterranean gulls starting to be seen on the Main Lake (2nd winter & adult)

Wigeon are feeding on the Village Lake islands

The Green woodpecker is now regularly seen around the Snipe Field

Monday: Female Brambling by the Far Lake

 Tuesday: Marsh harrier, hunting over the Island Lake, with a Dunlin present. Peregrine flying over South. Adult Mediterranean gull present on the Main Lake. Oystercatcher seen again as well. Lesser redpoll by the reserve entrance.

Wednesday:  Red kite & Grey heron over. 2 Dunlin on the Village Lake.

Thursday: Just a single Dunlin, Oystercatcher & 31 Wigeon on the Main Lake. Water rail showing well on the Village Lake

Friday:  Glossy ibis (Reserve First) seen flying over the Main Lake, then towards the Village Lake (nearly landing), but flying south over towards the Humber, in the mid afternoon. Will it come back or not ? Also 5 Dunlin on the Village Lake.

Saturday:No sign of the ibis, but 23 Shelduck on the Main Lake & the Green woodpecker showing well. A Little owl was seen in the morning from the Crossland hide (look south) & 2 Yellowhammers were in the alders by the reserve entrance. 3 Dunlin (1 Main, 2 Village Lake), joined by 3 Knot & 4 Grey plovers that dropped in & then flew west.

Sunday: Just Grey wagtail in Black Dyke & a Woodcock flushed from the East path. 50 Skylarks flew over in the morning.
